I don't think my surgery skills are compatible with life

The intestines that I resected and anastamosed this week definately looked inflamed and edematous when I tucked them back into my patient. I've heard some people exclaim with surprise that we euthanize the animals after our practice surgeries. Believe me, it's a mercy killing. I wouldn't wish any animal to wake up from anesthesia after I get through slicing and dicing it.

The Interpol concert on Tuesday was amazing! The band was working it, the set was kick ass, and the crowd was really into the show. It was one of the best concerts I've been to in a while, and was definately worth the drive and the little sleep.

The kittens started purring last weekend. Just when I think they can't get any cuter they find something else to tug my heartstrings. Now if only we could master the litterbox. Here's some pics of Betty and Veronica.

Betty is the black one, and I like to sing "Woah, black Betty, bam blam" to her. Veronica has the looks in the family, but she is not the smartest pea in the pod.

Last night Jennie and I went to O'Bannon's annual pirate party with some of her friends to watch a band called The Blaggards play. I was skeptical about the music, but the guys really rocked out, and Jennie won a free trip to Vegas in the pirate costume contest! Good beer, good music, good company and pirates, I can't think of a better way to spend an evening.

My mom had a bad week, so today I'm taking her to the ballet in Houston. The performance is Vivaldi's Four Seasons, In the middle, somewhat elevated, and Petite Mort. My mom's favorite composer is Vivaldi, and I think she'll like it. I hope it will help to cheer her up. I'm super excited about the performance, and I've been looking forward to it for months. I'm especially excited about In the middle, somewhat elevated, because it's set to techno music, and the choreography is very athletic and classical. I'm sure that it's going to blow my mind like all of the Houston ballet shows.

*An update from the first post: I went to the ballet last night and it rocked. I really enjoy the performances that exhibit the dancers athleticism and this one definately fit that bill. In the middle, somewhat elevated was amazing, and all of the dancers were superb. My mom said she had a good time too.

Right now I'm listening to Mika, M.I.A., and Interpol. You should too.
