It's Christmas Eve

and a lovely 60 degrees outside. It has been an eventful month. I finished my classes, not with flying colors, but not too bad either.

Earlier this year, I really wanted to get a dog, but I decided that I didn't have the time or money. On the 2nd, as I was driving to Houston on Hwy 6, there was a little corgi standing in the middle of the traffic on the highway. He didn't have a street smart look about him, and bleeding heart that I am, I pulled onto the shoulder and got out of my car. He ran right up to me wagging his little stub tail.

I put him in the car and continued on to Houston. He was dirty but well-fed looking so I knew that he either ran away from home or was dumped. Visions of little crying children without their playmate or a little old grandmother without her only companion antagonized me enough to put up flyers and contact the local animal shelters. I was pretty happy when no one called, and I've named him Grommet.

Grommet and I have been spending the break by going outdoors and enjoying the the nice weather. We've been to the arboretum almost everyday. I like to birdwatch, and he likes to bird chase and wade in the creek. This week I've seen a lot of eastern phoebes, some tufted titmice, a couple of american goldfinches, a few downy and red-bellied woodpeckers, carolina chickadees, robins, crows, and a pileated woodpecker.

I went to the postoffice today to pick up a package from Japan! It's the first mail that I've ever gotten from another country, and I thought the package was nifty with all the japanese characters on it.

While I was waiting in line at the postoffice, a kindly older gentleman entertained me with anecdotes. He also told me that tonight is going to have the brightest moon until the year 2018. Perhaps later I will go out and gaze at the moon. Then I'll leave Santa a nestle crunch bar and some soy milk and head to bed.

New Years Eve at Numbers! Be there or be somewhere else!

I don't bite...hard.
